On the night of 02 October 2015, the first ever joint SCF Operation between Melville Community Patrols, Westdene Community Patrol, SAPS K9 Unit, Brixton SAPS reservists along with Sector Melville vehicle from CSS Tactical and Melville Security Initiative took place.

A total of 7 vehicles with 14 members made their way through the streets of Melville with a single message, no longer will we just stand by and let crime happen.

A very successful operation with 5 arrests, 4 drug related and 1 for common theft. CSS Tactical detained a suspect after stealing a mobile phone from a restaurant on 7th street whereby they handed him over to SAPS. Intoxicated car guards were urged to leave the suburb as they are no longer welcome in Melville.

A word of thanks to the various patrols, MCP01, MCP02, MCP03, MCP04, WCP01, WCP02, WCP03, CSS Tactical SM, SAPS BX49 & SAPS K0-52, Andrew and Izelle Pitman & Carl Carey of the MSI and then also Danyle Nunes, Chair of the Melville Sector Crime Forum that organised this operation.

We urge all residents to attend the monthly Melville Sector Crime Forum meetings not only to be kept informed of various crime/safety matters but also feedback from patrols/operations within Melville.

It is clear from last night’s operation, a good working relationship exists between CSS Tactical & SAPS. The Melville Security Initiative and Melville Sector Crime Forum will continue working together with CSS Tactical & SAPS to fight crime in Melville!
